I have started my first section with muscles then placed a paragraph break for blood vessel types0 but after my first bullet point (arteries) it has automatically placed a paragraph break in instead of a line break. The other way to end a line is to press Shift+Enter this results in a soft return, sometimes called a line break or a newline character, being entered in the document. ![]() I presume there is some way I can customise this in word for my own computer. This action (pressing Enter) indicates that you have reached the end of the paragraph and want to start a new one. I then have to backspace a few times to fix this. I hit enter then hoping that a line break (and a bullet point) is put in but unfortunately a paragraph break (and a bullet point) is always put in instead (this is my problem!). I then type my first bullet point on this new topic. Then when I move onto a new section in my notes I hit enter twice to create a paragraph break. neooffice change new paragraph to new line manual However, inserting manual page breaks may not turn out to be a good long-term solution either, especially if you find yourself inserting them and then later removing them as your document evolves. Then I hit enter and there is a line break put in and a new bullet point (which is what I want). 2) If you have a paragraph set to multi-column to give a newspaper like effect, creating a new paragraph can really mess with this because it creates a new multi-column container. Here’s how i go about it at the moment find. I start at the top of the page and I write my first bullet point. If you need to create a new line within text that wraps around an image, be sure to use the soft return (press SHIFT + ENTER), rather than just ENTER on it's own. In each paragraph I need to find the character ‘.’ and add after it a new line - not a new paragraph. Feature request The feature request is to make the default in Obsidian the same as the other programs listed. ![]() Most common behaviour Most programs use a single Enter to create a new paragraph, with Shift+Enter for a new line. If need be, press shift+return to force text to next line without. I predominantly use bullet points because I feel they are easy to learn off. A single Enter gives you a new line in the same paragraph. Text in this style will look like a heading and will appear in your Table of Contents. So I use Word for typing my college notes.
